Embrace Nature! Bidbury & Co Unlacquered Brass Kitchen Brassware & Accessories

Your Bidbury & Co kitchen brassware and accessories in Old English Brass and Polished Brass are designed with an unlacquered finish, allowing them to age gracefully over time. As the brass is exposed to oxygen, sunlight and regular use, it will naturally develop a rich patina, deepening in colour and texture. This evolving finish is what gives your brassware its unique, timeworn charm.

It’s important to note that watermarks and small lines are a normal part of this natural process, even from initial installation. Unlike lacquered finishes such as chrome or nickel, where such marks might be considered a fault, these variations are essential to the authentic, living finish of Old English Brass.

To preserve and enjoy this luxurious patina, we recommend the following care instructions:

1. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could strip away the patina.

2. Cleaning: Where possible, pat dry after use to avoid hard water spots. Clean the tap with a low-pH liquid soap and warm water, or use a 50/50 solution of water and white wine vinegar. We do not recommend soaking the product in vinegar, as it may damage the finish.

3. Embrace the Patina: The beauty of unlacquered brass lies in its ability to age gracefully, so allow your taps and accessories to develop their own unique look with regular use.

NEW OUT OF THE BOX:

Some surface marks, finish has a pale appearance: your unique patina has begun

1-2 WEEKS OLD:

Minor natural blemishes and a shift in colour to a warmer tone

2-3 MONTHS OLD:

A distinctive patina has formed with numerous marks; the colour remains largely unchanged

By following these care instructions, your Old English Brass and Polished Brass fixtures will continue to evolve into a stunning and personalised focal point in your kitchen. The reason Old English Brass and Polished Brass are our most popular finishes.
